Sex discrimination

One thing to add about fixing the computer.

My computer was built by myself - I went to golden centre to buy all the parts.

Yesterday, I went to golden centre again to buy the display card. The salesperson was very nice and considerated. He reminded me to find a techncial GUY to perform the instsallation.

well, well, well. I am the technical person taking care of my computer for ages. Because I am a female and I wear like an OL make the computer shop salesperson think I do not have technical skill to perform the hardware installation.

IT women can understand my feeling?

Well, it depends. One thing I learn since I left high school, is that you cannot judge a person's capability by their look. I don't think fixing a computer/laptop is a guy skill set. However, when it comes to installing LARGE piece of equipment (talking about a 4U rack space servers/routers) and it will get a bit challenging for a gal to lift up some of the equipment. This type of real hands-on job (i.e. the job description states that you are able to lift a 50 lbs equipment or so with one hand) is tough for gal. A similar idea like UPS or Fedex deliver person, who are primarily male. However, it is quite shallow to judge a person by just the look (exterior). On the other hand, if we can have fire-woman serving us, nothing is sterotype. :)

So why do some shops hire female sales? It's crazy.
